ART + LAW event marks a new expansion of services for artists

The Downtown Fort Collins Creative District is joining forces with the Colorado Business Committee for the the Arts (CBCA) to bring art related legal expertise to Fort Collins. Colorado Attorneys for the Arts (CAFTA), a program of CBCA is coming to Fort Collins on Friday, April 13th to share their knowledge about intellectual property for visual and performing artists.

This full day of legal workshops for attorneys, creative professionals and arts organizations is a collaborative project between the CBCA, Colorado Creative Industries, the Downtown Fort Collins Creative District and Larimer Small Business Development Center. The Fort Collins event is one of the first events as part of this brand new expansion of the CAFTA program helping to provide this service to creatives statewide. The day is broken into two sections. The morning is built around attorneys wishing to give back to the arts while gaining their continuing education hours and the afternoon is tailored to artists, musicians, designers, and creative businesses around topics including intellectual property.

CAFTA serves individual artists, cultural nonprofits and creative businesses across Colorado. Clients must demonstrate financial need in order to be matched for free legal services and the range of artists and creatives served is a wide range of disciplines.

Event registration includes workshops, lunch, entertainment and networking. CAFTA will share information about their pro-bono work for the arts and creative industry and workshops on intellectual property and legal issues for creatives. The day’s programming is for artists in music, performing arts, visual & design arts and literature.

The workshop includes an interactive networking lunch and live entertainment!
